Welcome to our 2023 Lark women’s eBike review; we’ll cover a variety of the specs, stats and features included in Ecotric’s electric bike for women. In this overview, we briefly discuss some of the key features, before moving on to our other sections. Firstly, the integrated front basket allows for easily, hands-free transportation. Truthfully, we believe more eBikes should feature front baskets. They prove a very convenient addition and also aren’t necessarily strictly feminine. The centrally situated LCD display tracks battery life, speed, riding mode and more. Whilst reflective spoke strips help increase visbility, the Lark womens eBike does not feature powerful integrated head/rear lights. As such, we strongly recommend purchasing aftermarket lighting for riding at night.
Moving on, the low, walk-through frame allows for effortless mounting/dismounting; perfect for elderly riders, those with mobility issues and also the lazy. Weighing just 54 lbs (24.5 kg), lifting or transporting the Lark should pose no problem. Alongside this, this womens eBike even supports weights of up to 220 lbs (120 kg), seriously strong! Unfortunately, the official top speed of the Lark women’s eBike remains unspecified or untested. This is due to Ecotric’s programmable max. speed feature; allowing riders to adapt to the speed laws of any country. Alongside this, all Ecotric bicycles adhere to a default set speed limit in line with United States federal regulations. For reference, this speed limit is 20 mp/h and completely customisable. We think its safe to say that the firey 500W rear hub motor would propel this womens eBike to such speeds. Moving on to distance; the premium quality 36V 10AH Lithium-ion battery allows riders ranges of approx. 21-37 miles (35-60 km).
Furthermore, riders have the choice between on-demand throttle and pedal assist mode; those choosing to lend a leg should expect the latter range and an extended battery life. Whilst the range offered isn’t anything more than average, we feel lucky to get average for this price. In most cases, competitively priced yet high performance eBikes significantly sacrifice certain design aspects. Unspecified – Ecotric state that the Lark abides by a set US federal speed limit by default, which is 20 mp/h. Furthemore, the Lark womens electric bike features a programmable max speed; allowing riders to adapt to their local laws. Alongside this, the Lark women’s eBike also boasts a 500W motor, so we also wonder what the Lark is hiding…
Recommended age/weight?
Whilst we found no official statement on the recommended age, we believe the Ecotric Lark to best suit ages upwards of 13+. For starters, this womens electric bike was designed with, of course, adult women in mind. As such, a number of the features and design choices geared towards adults, such as the 7-speed Shimano indexing. After all, what does a kid know about having SEVEN gears to perfectly match your speed? Furthermore, Ecotric themselves state that this Lark best suits riders between 5’3″ – 6′. For perspective, the average 14 year old boy is 5’3″. 21-37 miles (33.8 – 59.5 km). As previously mentioned, riders can choose between on-demand throttle and pedal assist mode. Those opting for the latter are rewarded with increased range and battery life. However, please note that variables such as weight, terrain, incline, etc. will affect overall performance.

Moving on to the battery life & charging section of our Lark women’s eBike review for 2023. Boasting a premium quality, 36V 10AH Lithium-ion battery that powers the Lark for ranges of up to 37 miles (60 km). We believe this more than a fair performance, considering the somewhat smaller battery and price. Ecotric also offer 1 year extended warranty, including the battery. This should help attest to the high standards of quality held by Ecotric, alongside offering peace of mind of riders everywhere. Whilst the range offered exceeded our expectations; the barely average charge time of 6-8 hours was one of the few things letting the Lark down.
Of course, 6-8 hours for a near 40 mile range is just about still reasonable; especially when a number of similarly priced competitors taking in excess of 8-12+ hours to charge. As such, we believe that the Lark also makes a decent choice as a women’s commuting electric bike. Riders can comfortably make their journey to work with battery to spare, whilst fully charging during their shift. Unspecified – Whilst we found no official statement regarding battery protection; many similarly priced competitors feature Battery Management Systems. Such a BMS provides protection against overvoltage, overcharge, etc. As such, we believe it likely Ecotric have such kind of a system in place. How long will the battery last for?
The premium quality Lithium-ion battery is rated for an average lifespan of 400-600 charge cycles. For some perspective, it would take 2+ years to reach this point, even when charging and riding daily. Furthermore, Ecotric also offer 1 year extended warranty, including the battery; giving you that extra time to relax and covering you should any faults arise.

The design of the Lark mirrors that of many modern conventional eBikes; the low, walk through frame allows for easy mounting and dismounting. This further benefits elderly riders and those with mobility issues, no longer mounting a waist high frame.
The seat is height adjustable, allowing riders to best accommodate their shape and size. Alongside this, the previously mentioned front basket also allows riders to easily store and transport their possessions. We find this a super convenient feature that we’d love to see incorporated in more designs.
The frame of the Lark also holds the capacity for an additional rear rack and fenders, should you decide for an upgrade. Whilst not overtly feminine, we still feel the design and its features great for a women’s eBike. Furthermore, the Lark also makes a great gift for your wife, fiance, girlfriend or… mistress; alongside a safer way of hinting that a little exercise won’t hurt. Ergonomically speaking, the handle grips are grippy and comfortable, alongside boasting a classy leatherette exterior.
The previously mentioned aluminium frame makes hopping on/off effortless. The further featured seat suspension ensures the smoothest ride possible and aids in comfortable long distance rides. However, the Lark lacks front or rear suspension, leading to bumpy rides and poor shock absorption on uneven terrain.

Build quality and ease of use
Ecotric certainly place a high value on build quality, offering an extended warranty of 1 year (including the battery). This should help give some idea of the confidence Ecotric have in the quality of their models. Firstly, the lightweight yet highly durable aluminium frame supports approx. 4.8 times its own weight of 54 lbs (24.5 kg).
Whilst the display is fairly basic, it still relays all essential information such as battery life, speed, ride mode, etc. The additional of 7-speed Shimano gear indexing means that you’ll always have the perfect gear to match your speed; alongside the dual front & rear mechanical disc brakes ensuring precise, sharp and sudden stopping.
The Lithium-ion 36V 10AH battery is of premium quality and likely adheres to a huge number of safety regulations. Furthermore, integrated seat suspension helps maintain a comfortable journey. However, one thing worth noting is the complete lack of front & rear suspension.
This greatly impacts shock absorption and overall ride quality on rough, bumpy terrain. As such, we believe this women’s electric bike best suits smooth surfaces and casual trails. Regardless and in fairness to Ecotric, the Lark offers ample performance and quality for the price.

Moving our 2023 Lark womens eBike review on to one of the most important sections; safety and usability on the road. Typically speaking, we believe Ecotric designed the Lark solely for roadside/on-road use; with seemingly no off-road functionality design choice made. Whilst reflective side strips help maintain some level of visbility, the lack of front/rear lighting poses a significant issue.
For starters, lights are especially for maintaining visibility at night; alongside alerting oncoming traffic to your existence. Alongside this, the Lark fails to feature a horn/bell to alert pedestrians and other traffic of your presence. As such, we recommend purchasing a stronger aftermarket lighting and a bell to ensure your safety.
We also insist that riders wear adequate safety gear when riding at night; including a high-visibility jacket, helmet, gloves, etc. Secondly, the lack of suspension means that the Lark best suits smooth roads and pavement. However, the remarkably responsive brakes result in safe, sharp and sudden stopping at a moments notice.
We believe this essential during roadside use and potentially life saving. Simply put, the Lark suits roadside use on smooth paths and requires external aftermarket lights for night time riding. Unspecified – Unfortunately, we were unable to find any official statement on the waterproof rating for the Ecotric Lark.
