Welcome to our Hiboy S22 review for this exciting electric skateboard. Typically, an electric longboard of this specification would set you back a fair bit of money. However, we were surprised to see such a cost-effective price tag on this model, making it one of the cheapest electric skateboards available for the performance offered. eBoards have fast become a fun and effective way for casual riders and commuters alike to get from A to B.
Both beginners & pro skaters should have no trouble getting to grips with their remarkable new ride; offering both a wide deck & responsive controller for speed. So, without divulging too much information, lets begin our Hiboy S22 electric skateboard review for 2023; starting with speed, power & distance.

How fast does it go?
The Hiboy S22’s top speed is officially stated as 18.6 – 24 mp/h. Whilst we can easily reach 18.6 mp.h, we were wondering where this latter figure came from; especially since we couldn’t reach said speeds unless travelling downhill. Either way, an impressive top speed for the price.
What age/weight is it suitable for?
Whilst there is no official statement regarding recommended age, we believe this model most suited towards adults; predominantly due to the full sized deck & decent top speed. In terms of suitable weights, the S22 supports between 66-220 lbs (29-100 kg).
What is the range/distance?
This electric longboard offers an average range of approx. 12.5 miles, tested on flat surfaces. Please note that variables such as incline, weather, rider weight, etc. will affect overall performance, including range & speed.
Can it be used offroad?
Unfortunately, this electric longboard lacks off-road functionality; although riders should have no problem making short trips across grass and other minor terrain. However, we recommend avoiding any trickier terrains.
Does it lose power uphill?
No, the Hiboy S22 manages to maintain a decent level of power up until incline depths of 20 degrees. This makes it an excellent electric longboard for climbing hills, as most other models cap out at around 10-15 degree inclines.

Bringing our 2023 Hiboy S22 review onto battery life & charging. A 36V/ 4.4 Ah battery powers the dual 350W brushless motors, in turn propelling riders to speeds of up to 18.6 mp/h for up to 12.5 miles. However, the feature we fell in love with was its rapid charge time; charging from empty in just 2 hours, one of the fastest charging electric skateboards on the market.
Whilst little is known about the battery, we believe it unlikely that it’s Lithium-ion; predominantly due to its low cost. We don’t know if they could afford to add Li-ion cells on top of all the other fantastic features & specs offered. The battery appears to house itself at the bottom of the deck, whilst also offering a decent level of protection against the elements.
How long does it take to charge?
The Hiboy S22 has a rapid charging time of just 2 hours from empty; making it one of the fastest charging electric skateboards we’ve reviewed.
How long will the battery last for?
Unspecified – Typically, most models utilise Li-ion batteries, which are more efficient & last longer than conventional counterparts. However as this is unspecified, we cannot guarantee or even speculate an average battery lifecycle for this model.

Utilising a 7-layer maple deck in a longboard design, this board is exceptionally strong yet flexible. Thanks to this deck, this eBoard supports weights of up to 220 lbs, whilst weighing just 16.5 lbs (7.4 kg); over 13 times its own weight. An electric longboard design is always great for short & long distance rides alike, offering a spacious deck to move around on.
Alongside this, this model also includes a rechargeable wireless remote, allowing you to control speed & power with just one hand. What brakes does the Hiboy S22 have?
Whilst the exact specs of the brakes remain undisclosed, riders have two options of how to slow down; either manually or via the electric brake on the controller.

Build quality and ease of use
Bringing our 2023 Hiboy S22 review onto build quality & ease of use. We were fairly surprised with the overall stellar build quality, especially considering the price offered. This type of board requires minimal maintenance and stays sturdy for up to 100 kg weights. The 7-layer maple deck is seriously strong, capable of supporting over 13 times its own weight. In order to make the market, these models must first pass a number of safety tests.
Whilst unspecified, we believe it likely that this board passed a selection of fire & electrical safety specifications. As such, riders need not worry about their brilliant board bursting into flames. In terms of ease of use, this board is extremely easy to ride. The controller is ergonomic and comfortable to hold for extended periods of time. Alongside this, they also integrate a spacious deck with enough room to easily manoeuvre around on.
How easy is it to carry?
Extremely easy – weighing just 16.5 lbs (7.4 kg), even the weakest of riders should have no issue picking up and transporting their brilliant board.
How smooth is the ride?

Switching on to the most important section of our 2023 Hiboy S22 review; safety & usability on the road. Firstly, due to a lack of lighting, we highly recommend riders only use this board during the day. However, riders can pick up some aftermarket lights from external sources, either online or in-store.
Alongside this, we also insist riders wear adequate safety gear, including reflective clothing, helmet, gloves, etc. when riding on the road. Furthermore, the legalities of electric skateboards on the road remains highly contested. As such, we advise all riders to first check their local laws & regulations to ensure they can indeed ride on the road.
