Introducing the Swagtron Swagboard T1 Pro, an impressive little sleeper of a hoverboard. At first glance, you may think that this a mere kids board, especially with that name alone. However, whilst it sounds flashy, impressive and fresh out of Terminator, the Swagboard Pro T1 does actually deliver and is one solidly designed, up-to-spec hoverboard.
Swagtron are a U.S brand who aiming to consistently bring innovative designs, improvements and benefits to their boards. Again, their name may make you think they’re a joke, but it couldn’t be further from the truth. Swagtron are pioneers of some of the best hoverboards on the market. Coincidentally, the Swagboard Pro T1 made the cut on our best hoverboards of 2023 comparison list; further attesting to its serious competition against the rest of the hoverboards on the market.
To give an indicator of the unique and excellent quality control of these boards; Swagtron are the only hoverboard brand to incorporate a fully UL 2271 certified SentryShield battery pack. UL 2271 certified boards adhere to strict fire and electrical safety standards, helping you get the best possible experience out of your hoverboard and preventing them from bursting into flames.
Rapid charging & remarkable range
This patent-pending battery greatly improves ride safety, performance, battery life and charge time. Furthermore, the Swagboard T1 Pro boasts one of the fastest charging times of any hoverboard on the market, taking just 1 hour to charge, seriously impressive! Whilst the T1 Pro only offers a maximum speed of 8 mp/h, its remarkable range of up to 12 miles and rapid charge time make this board worthy of note.
Riders with a strong sense of safety will jump for joy at these specs; crafted with a flame-resistant, hard shell design with the capacity to support up to 220 lbs (100 kg). Perfect for riders of all shapes and those wishing for a safe, secure ride. Furthermore, the Swagboard T1 Pro also includes battery indicators, aiding riders in knowing exactly how much power you have left. When battery power is low, an easily visible 5 light indicator alerts the rider.
With U.S. based customer service available 7 days a week, support is readily available should any problems arise. In terms of speed and power, the Swagboard T1 Pro certainly isn’t the fastest or most powerful on the market. However, it does offer a noteworthy range of up to 12 miles, depending on rider weight, terrain, speed, etc. For example, the Ninebot S and miniPRO offer an average range of approx. 13.7 miles, brought to us from Segway, one of the leading and original hoverboard brands.
For such a cost effective hoverboard to nearly match up to the illustrious standards of Segway is rather impressive. Offering an average max. speed of just 8 mp/h (12.8 km/h), the T1 is certainly one of the slower hoverboards we’ve reviewed.
Whilst only incorporating a slightly underpowered 250W motor, this Swagboard also features gear stabilisation for tighter control and downhill traction. This further improves reliability and control, perfect for any rider who values their safety.
All things considered, the lack of power is more than made up for in safety, design quality, charge time and range. How fast does it go?

Whilst certainly not the fastest hoverboard on the market, we feel that the T1 more than makes up for it with a high-spec range and charging time. Please note, maximum speed is approximate and depends on a number of variables.
Such variables include: rider weight, terrain, incline degree, etc. Heavier riders and those tackling hills should expect reduced performance. Furthermore, learning mode is also incorporated, controlling speeds at a suitable level until riders are ready.
What age/weight is it suitable for?
Recommended for all ages. Supports up to 220 lbs (100 kg), on par with many Segway products and other top of the line hoverboards. Please note that the Swagboard T1 Pro requires a minimum weight of 44 lbs (19 kg). For reference, an average 6 year old weight approx. 45 lbs. Adult riders below this minimum weight limit are likely lying or marooned on an island for the past 10 years.
What is the range/distance?
Approx. 7-12 miles.
Offering a fairly remarkable range of up to 12 miles, putting it in competition with a number of top tier hoverboards on the market. However, performance depends on a number of variables such as: rider weight, terrain, speed, incline degree, etc.
Please note that whilst weights of up to 100 kg are supported, heavier riders will notice significantly reduced performance. This isn’t limited to just the Swagboard T1 Pro, as all hoverboards have optimal conditions in which they best perform.

Moving on to the key advantage that the T1 has over the vast majority of hoverboards on the market, battery life and charging. As we previously mentioned, this Swagboard boasts a charge time of just 1 hour. This firmly puts it as one of the fastest charging hoverboards on the market, far above a number (if not all) Segway/Halo/Razor products that we’re aware of.
On average, battery life for this board is approx. 1 hour and 30 mins. Of course, this depends on a number of variables including rider weight, speed, terrain, etc. An average rider of 65 kg should expect a range of around 10-12 miles, on flat terrain.
At a maximum speed of 8 mp/h, expect a total ride time of approx. an hour and a half at constant top speed. Please note that heavier riders should expect a notable drop in performance, as these specs are reached under optimal riding conditions. The Swagboard T1 claims the title as one of the first on the market to adhere to UL 2272 safety certifications for fire and electric safety, further attesting to battery safety. Whilst purely speculation, we believe the rapid charging time and optimal range a result of SentryShield. This battery pack provides the T1 battery with multi-layered protection and greatly improves safety & efficiency. How long does it take to charge?

The charging time for this hoverboard is what really sets it apart from the rest. With the already top-tier range offered by the T1, we’re seriously impressed that riders are back out on their board in just an hour. Honestly, not even the Ninebot S or miniPRO (offering similar ranges) charge this quickly. Even with the lackluster top speed, we feel confident that such a charge time is well worth the trade.
Battery protection & safety
Patented multi-layered lithium-ion smart battery system protects and monitors board battery life. Further featuring complete UL certification and a 10 ton crush test, attesting to its strength, safety and durability. As previously mentioned, UL certified hoverboards pass strict fire and electrical safety regulations.
Ride with style and confidence knowing that your awesome new ride won’t just burst into flames. What we find really interesting is the 10 ton crush test, as this is not often regulated or required by hoverboard manufacturers. This further attests to Swagtron’s extremely high standards and quality control.
Performance and safety are greatly considered throughout the entire production process of this hoverboard. Offering protection against overvoltage, short circuiting, overheating, overcharging and overcurrent; Swagtron really do take safety extremely seriously. Again, UL 2271 regulations are met, attesting to fire and electrical safety.
In terms of user experience, Swagtron argue a strong case for their hoverboards. Offering excellent U.S based customer service, available 7 days a week. Should any problems arise, support is always available and on hand. Swagtron also offer full 1 year warranty for all official purchases of their products, so make sure to buy from them or a licensed vendor.
How long will the battery last for?
Approx. 1 hour 30 mins.
Again, this depends primarily on a number of variables, such as rider weight, speed, terrain and more. For example, a 65 kg rider will achieve a range of around 10-12 miles on flat terrain. To put this in perspective, max. speed is 8 mp/h, therefore your average rider should expect a battery life of around an hour and a half, riding constantly at top speed.
Please note that this conclusion is drawn from optimal riding conditions; heavier riders and those riding on tricky terrain or hills will inevitably experience reduced performance.

As previously mentioned, the overall build quality is extremely high. Lightweight and durable, the Swagboard Pro T1 is predominantly plastic, whilst also boasting a hardened, flame-resistant shell. This both increases the safety and durability of your ride, perfect for those pushing their board the the limit.
The Pro T1 comes in the iconic, classic hoverboard shape that many brands have followed and further incorporates slip-resistant rubber pedals, allowing riders to maintain traction and control for a safe and stable ride. Again, the 1 hour charge time of this awesome hoverboard really sets it apart from the rest. We believe the sacrifice of power and top speed well worth the trade for battery performance.
Premium design quality at a great price
Truly a perfect board for recreational riders and commuters alike; commute through the city for over 10 miles, without the need to go faster than 8 mp/h. Alternatively, have a blast, push it to the limit and get ready to do it all over again in just 1 hour. Currently very reasonably priced, the Pro T1 includes a great design, powerful performance and a number of features.
This puts it firmly as one of the best, cost-effective hoverboards on the market. We must have said this a hundred times already, but the safety features on this board are top notch. SentryShield battery protection is a first for hoverboards and greatly improves battery safety, with UL 2272 certification further attesting to a high standard of fire and electrical safety.
Safe & Stylish
LED headlights help ensure that the rider is seen and safe at all hours of the day, especially at night. Also mentioned previously is the Safe Stop technology, bringing riders to a controlled rolling stop should the battery run out. This greatly improves safety as riders don’t suddenly stop and are thrown off, and nor will they continue rolling into a potentially dangerous situation.

What material is it made from?
Predominantly plastic with a hardened, flame resistant shell to offer improved durability and safety. Further incorporates rubber, slip-resistant pedals to ensure maximum grip when riding and preventing slipping. Information on this topic is fairly limited, however we believe that other materials are also used in design production.
Can it be used as a regular hoverboard?
On it’s own and without any battery, you’re going to have a tough time even getting this moving. As is the case with pretty much every hoverboard on the market, battery power is required to go anywhere. Furthermore, many hoverboards incorporate safety features to actually stop riders from continuing to travel without battery, as it could cause some potentially dangerous situations.
Does it connect to your smartphone via app or Bluetooth?
Unfortunately, no mobile app or Bluetooth functionality is included. However, mobile and Bluetooth support is included in the Swagtron app for the T3, T6 and T580, to mixed reviews.
Build quality and ease of use
The build quality for the Swagboard Pro T1 is extremely high, Swagtron place a high standard of quality on all their products, often running rigorous tests not required by safety standards. As you may have seen countless times over, the T1 adheres the strict electrical and fire safety requirements under UL 2272 certification; further attesting to it’s exceptional build quality.
Swagtron were actually one of, if not the first to adhere to these standards. Their SentryShield battery pack offers a dramatic increase in interior battery security, alongside also passing an additional 10 tonne crush test. This test isn’t even required by safety regulations, further proving Swagtron as a dedicated manufacturer of quality hoverboards.
In terms of ease of use, the Swagboard Pro T1 offers just that. New riders will jump for joy at the additional of learning mode, wherein speed is controlled at a sensible level… Until you’re ready to start burning rubber, of course. The pedals are covered in rubber, anti-slip mats to help ensure maximum grip and stability throughout your ride. The Pro T1 rides just like the rest on the market; if you know how to ride already, you’ll have no trouble hopping on one of these.

Throughout this article, we’ve given credit to Swagtron’s admirable emphasis on safety. Please note, we’ve already mentioned much of this information prior in this article. Without further adue, lets dive right into the safety standards of this hoverboard. One of the first, if not the first to adhere to strict UL 2272 fire and electrical safety standards; riders will zoom around in confidence, knowing that their brand new board will never burst into flames. The patent-pending SentryShield battery pack offers greatly increased protection against the elements, although no official IPX rating has been disclosed.
Swagtron also gave the Swagboard Pro T1 battery an additional 10 tonne crush test, which isn’t actually required by safety regulations. This further proves Swagtron’s dedication to rolling out high quality and most importantly safe products. Forged from a flame-resistant, hardened shell to protect against fire and crashes, the Pro T1 claims both strength and dexterity. New to hoverboards? Not to worry, this Swagboard also features a learning mode to help riders find their footing, controlling speed at a safe level until ready.
Further featuring Safe Stop technology, which brings riders to a rolling stop when out of battery. This is a great feature; riders aren’t thrown off their board from a sudden stop, nor will they continue to roll into a potentially dangerous situation. LED headlights help keep riders visible during day and night. Lastly, although not an intended safety feature, the Swagboard Pro T1 only reaches a maximum speed of 8 mp/h; hardly fast enough to do much damage, should you fall off.
Is the Swagboard T1 Pro waterproof?
Whilst we found no IP waterproof rating for this board, we do know that it offers basic protection against water; this is in thanks to its UL 2272 certifications, attesting to fire/electrical safety for the interior components.
As such, we believe the Swagboard T1 Pro to offer mild water resistance, but certainly not waterproof. We’ve read reviews of satisfied riders claiming that their T1 withstood a fair amount of water. However, we would recommend against submerging it for any period of time… Try to stay dry out there!

Whilst there is no information on licensed vendor locations, we believe the Swagtron Swagboard T1 Pro is available worldwide. At such an incredibly low price, this is also one of the cheapest hoverboards. Perfect for those cost-effective commuters, a lower than average price with no sacrifice of design quality. However, riders should note that in the wake of Black Friday / Cyber Monday 2019, prices are subject to change.
