Welcome to our Swagtron EB7 Plus review for 2023, here we’ll cover a number of features, specs and stats surrounding this awesome folding electric bike. The EB7 Plus ebike is a direct upgrade from it’s predecessor, the EB7 Plus; boasting 23% more power and further featuring a battery lock, horn, LED display and fully adjustable seat. Riders have increased performance and control, thanks to the 7-speed Shimano Index Shifting, allowing you to tackle hills with ease.
Alongside this, the EB7 Plus also smashes inclines of up to 25 degrees without pedal assist, making it a great electric bike for hills. Overall, we feel that the Swagtron EB7 Plus is a great, cost-effective pick for commuters and ebike enthusiasts everywhere. However, we’ll let you make up your own mind over the course of our Swagtron EB7 Plus review.

As previously mentioned, the Swagtron EB7 Plus is a direct upgrade, with 23% more power than the previous model. As such, riders should expect a little more kick out of the 350W motor. Riders can choose from full throttle, pedal-only and assisted pedal mode, depending on how active you feel. As you might expect, pedal-assist is a great way to get the extra mile out of your journey whilst also getting some exercise. Alongside this, the 36V Lithium-ion battery is fully swappable, allowing you to continue your journey as if you never started.
Furthermore, the EB7 Plus is easily capable of reaching a max. speed of approx. 18.6 mp/h (30 km/h) and reaches ranges of up to 19 miles from the throttle alone; however please note that these tests were conducted in ideal riding conditions, with variables such as weight and terrain affecting performance. We have to say, the range and speed on the EB7 Plus are pretty decent and makes a great commuting solution for both short and even long distances; provided you have additional batteries.

Throttle-only top speed of up to 18.6 mp/h (30 km/h) – a great top speed for it’s price.
What age/weight is it suitable for?
Whilst there is no official statement on the recommended age, we believe the EB7 Plus most suitable for ages 12+ and over 5″ tall. Whilst the seat is height adjustable, the handlebar is not; a potential challenge for children and those under 5″ to reach. Whilst weighing just 42.3 lbs (19.2 kg), the Swagtron EB7 Plus supports a max. weight of up to 264.5 lb. (120 kg); over 6 times it’s own weight.
What is the range/distance?
The EB7 Plus boasts a throttle-only range of up to 19 miles, however riders can take it even further with pedal-assist mode and add a few extra miles to their journey. Please note, variables such as rider weight, terrain, incline, etc. will affect overall performance. Moving on to our battery review; the EB7 Plus certainly meets our expectations in this section. This excellent ebike boasts a 36V lithium-ion battery that takes just 3-4 hours to charge from empty; a great alternative to other similarly priced e-bikes that take 12+ hours. As previously mentioned, long-range riders will love the swappable lithium-ion battery available separately, effectively allowing you to double your range.
These swappable batteries are changing the game of long distance Personal Electric Vehicles, allowing rides to last as long as however many batteries you can carry! Furthermore, these batteries are no joke; Swagtron have developed an advanced battery management system to ensure optimal battery life and safeguards against overheating, overcharging and overvoltage. Alongside this, the EB7 lays claim to an IPX4 waterproof rating, meaning that it is resistant to water splashes from any direction; offering decent water resistance, but certainly not waterproofing. As such, as long as you don’t submerge or subject your electric bike to long periods of torrential rain, your battery stays nice and dry.
How long does it take to charge?
Get back out on the road in no time at all; from an empty battery, the Swagtron EB7 takes just 3-4 hours to charge.
Battery protection & safety
As previously mentioned, Swagtron have developed a battery management system that ensures optimal battery life, alongside safeguarding against overheating, overcharging and overvoltage. Alongside this, the EB7 Plus claims an IPX4 waterproof rating, protecting the battery and other internal electricals from moderate water splashes from any direction. Lastly, this model even features a key-secured compartment to keep your battery safe from dust, water and theft.
How long will the battery last for?
As a high quality lithium-ion battery, riders should expect the latter of approx. 500-1000+ charge cycles before anticipating any faults. Even if you were riding every day, you would struggle to reach this point in under 3+ years.

The design of the EB7 Plus has clearly been carefully considered; the easy, walk-through frame allows riders to easily adjust, transport and mount their awesome ebike. Furthermore, this low down, walk-through frame also makes it easy for elderly riders to mount and use, with a height adjustable seat to suit all manner of sizes. The lightweight aluminium alloy frame results in a durable electric bike that weighs just 42.3 lb (19.2 kg). Combined with the easy folding frame, transporting the Swagtron EB7 Plus is as easy as riding it.
This handy folding electric bike further features a kickstand and beefy, 16″ air filled tires with enhanced rear suspension to soak up harsh hits. One thing we also really like are the swappable batteries, which we covered in the battery & charging section. This feature allows riders to switch out their dead battery for a fresh, fully charged one; effectively doubling their ride.
What material is it made from?
Lightweight yet durable aluminium alloy frame, air-filled rubber tires.
Can it be used as a regular bike?
Yes – Choose from full throttle, assisted-pedal or pedal only mode.
Does it connect to your smartphone via app or Bluetooth?
Unfortunately, there is no Bluetooth or mobile app support for the Swagtron EB7. Whilst there is a Swagtron app on iOS, it’s only compatible for the T3/T6/T580 hoverboard models.
Build quality and ease of use
As is expected from all Swagtron models, the build quality of the EB7 Plus more than meets the mark, especially considering its price. To attest to the exceptional build quality, the Swagtron EB7 Plus supports a max. weight of up to 264.5 lb. (120 kg); over 6 times it’s own weight. Furthermore, the Shimano 7 Speed Index Shifting (S.I.S.) allows riders to easily tackle hills and switch between 7 gears to precisely match their speed.
The enhanced rear suspension, coupled with the 16″ air filled tires smooth out rough rides nicely. The EB7 Plus further features dual-disc brakes and coilshocks to allow greater control and precision for sudden stops and impacts. This, alongside the motor offering enough power to tackle 25 degree inclines make the EB7 Plus the perfect commuter folding ebike.
Furthermore, the EB7 Plus is extremely easy to use, with the low, walk-through frame allowing riders to easily mount; more than helpful for smaller riders or those with mobility issues. Spare yourself from wrist cramps, thanks to cruise control. Honestly, this fully folding electric bike is packed full of features and functionality; a battery lock, headlight, horn, LED display, adjustable seat, speed modes, 7 gears and a folding frame are just to name a few.

Safety & Usability on the road
Safety and usability on the road
We believe that the Swagtron EB7 Plus is more than capable for roadside use, thanks to the reflective side/rear strips and bright headlight. Alongside this, the EB7 Plus also features a horn to help you alert pedestrians and other traffic of your presence. These features are essential in helping riders stay seen and safe on the road, no matter the time of day; however we still recommend you wear adequate safety gear, such as a helmet and reflective jacket when riding at night.
However, due to the relatively low top speed (in comparison to cars), we don’t recommend riding your ebike in the road, but just on the side. Although, many countries also have bike lanes, allowing riders a safe and legal roadside route. In terms of safety, the EB7 Plus offers ample battery protection, alongside enhanced rear suspension and dual disc brakes for maximum control during sharp and sudden stops.
Is the Swagtron EB7 Plus waterproof
This fully folding electric bike offers a waterproof rating of IPX4. This means that the battery, electricals and interior circuitry are protected against moderate sustained water splashes, but is not waterproof. Learn more about IP ratings here.

As far as we’re aware, the Swagtron EB7 Plus is available worldwide and ship to all continents.
