Overall, the Jetson Metro is a great, cost-effective eBike that makes a perfect choice for commuters everywhere. Offering an above average range of 25 miles, riders should have no problem getting from A to B. What’s more, the phenomenally fast charge time means you’ll be fully charged and ready to go in only 4 hours! At this price, the Metro is incredibly cost-effective and an ideal solution to private or public transport in cities or the countryside. The easy folding mechanism makes storing the Jetson Metro a complete breeze; with this fully folding frame, everything including the pedals and handlebars collapse, with magnets securing the Metro in position.
With this super compact folding design and lightweight frame, transporting and storing your awesome ride is easy. What’s more, the Jetson Metro is perfectly suitable for all kinds of riders, from big to small, adults to teens and more. Attesting to this, the Metro supports a max. weight of up to 265 lbs (120 kg), whilst still capable of supporting riders as young as 13. In terms of speed, the Jetson Metro offers a very fair and decent top speed of 15.5 mp/h. This is especially impressive when you consider how cost-effective this model is; with many more models costing more and offering the same or lower top speed. Alongside this, the range offered for such price is incredible, allowing riders to go up to 25 miles. This is leagues higher than many similarly priced folding eBikes, many of which offer an average range of under 20 miles.
We find this especially incredible if you consider how only a 250W motor powers this magnificent model. Furthermore, the super fast charge time means that riders will fully charge and ready to go in just 4 hours, an incredibly rapid charge time. This is especially impressive, considering many similarly priced competitors offer less range yet take in excess of 12+ hours to charge.
Lastly, the mighty Metro even supports weights of up to 265 lbs (120 kg), which is seriously impressive considering its 38 lbs weight, almost x7 its own weight. Not only this, but the Jetson Metro can also tackle inclines of up to 20 degrees, which is seriously impressive and on-par with many higher end models. What’s more, there are reports of riders up to 190 lbs travelling nearly 20 mp/h, which is 5 mp/h more than the official speed rating. We actually found a number of varying reviews with reported speeds of up to 20 mp/h when pedalling, meaning the Metro is always ready to go even faster.

Although the top speed is officially rated at 15.5 mp/h (25 km), we’ve seen reports of riders claiming up to 20 mp/h.
What age/weight is it suitable for?
With a supported weight of up to 265 lbs (120 kg), you’ll have a tough time finding someone who can’t ride this folding e-bike. Alongside this, the Metro is also perfectly suitable for teens, with a recommended age of 13+. For the price, this could easily make a great gift for your child or yourself.
What is the range/distance?
Approx. 25 miles without pedal assist – riders can go even further in pedal assist mode.

Another aspect that separates the Jetson Metro from the rest, it’s phenomenal charge time of just 4 hours. Honestly, many similarly priced competitors offer reduced performance, yet take in excess of 12+ hours to charge from empty. How Jetson have managed to produce such a fast charging electric bike for such a competitive price is a mystery. The battery in question is a fully removable 36V, 5.2Ah Lithium-ion battery carefully concealed within the frame; of which riders can easily unlock and remove the battery for charging or transport.
However, one thing we did notice is that full throttle drains the battery fast, requiring a lot of power and energy. Although, riders still have 3 levels of pedal assist to choose from, each offering varying degrees of power; level 1 offers a small boost, with level 3 giving the biggest. The level of pedal assist inevitably impacts battery life, with 3 offering the biggest boost but also the biggest drain on battery life. However, with such a short 4 hour charge time, it doesn’t really matter too much.

Battery protection & safety
Unfortunately, there is no official statement on the battery protection offered. Often, most models feature some kind of smart battery management system in place; typically protecting against overvoltage, overheating, overcharging, etc. However, please be aware that overcharging will ruin the battery, so it’s unlikely that a BMS is implemented.
How long will the battery last for?
Typically, a standard quality Lithium-ion battery has an average life span of 500-1000+ charge cycles before any faults arise. As a high quality Lithium-ion battery, riders should expect the latter of 1000+ charges before expecting any faults to arise. For perspective, even if you were charging and riding every day, you’ll still struggle to reach this figure in under 2-3+ years.

Moving on to the design and ergonomics section of our Jetson Metro 2023 review. As expected, this fully folding electric bike is extremely convenient to pack, carry and transport, wherever you are. As previously mentioned, the easy folding mechanism of the Metro makes storing and commuting easier than ever.
The handlebar, frame and pedals easily collapse into each other, with magnets located on each tire locking the folded frame into its compact position. Further on the topic of the frame, Jetson have opted for a low down, walk-through frame for easy mounting and storage. This walk-through frame is especially convenient for older riders and those with mobility issues, as they no longer have to hoist their leg over a waist sized frame.
Further featuring a fully height adjustable seat, allowing riders of varying sizes to perfectly suit their needs. Also featuring a kickstand so riders can easily park or hop off their ride without having to hold it upright. As expected, everything from the LCD display to brakes are conveniently located on the handlebar, always in quick reach for a battery check or sharp stop.
Speaking of sharp stops, the Jetson Metro’s front & rear disc brakes result in much greater control and stopping power during braking. All in all, the Metro offers incredible performance and packed full of features for a crazily cost-effective price. Build quality and ease of use
The overall build quality of the Jetson Metro really surprised us. We were expected a cheap, low-quality and mass produced folding eBike, however we were pleasantly surprised. The frame is forged from a lightweight yet highly durable aluminium alloy, giving the Metro a total weight of just 38 lbs. Furthermore, the front & rear disc brakes offer incredibly responsive and precise stopping power, allowing riders to make sharp, sudden stops on demand.
Thanks to the walk-through frame, riders can easily mount and dismount the Metro; with the low down frame especially helpful for older riders or those with mobility issues. As many expect, riding the Metro is simple and just like riding any other bike, with no hidden tricks required. The LCD display clearly indicates your battery life, speed, headlight status, etc. and is conveniently situated on the handlebar. All in all, the overall quality of the Jetson Metro is most certainly up there, alongside being an incredibly easy ride to master.

Moving on to one of the most important sections of our Jetson Metro review, safety and usability on the road. Due to the lack of any mentioned suspension, we believe it’s safe to assume the Metro is adapted for roadside use and not suited for offroad use. However, that’s not to say it can’t climb hills, offering an impressive climb grade of 20 degrees. With front & rear disc brakes, riders have an impressive stopping capacity, with the ability to pull off sharp and sudden stops when needed.
Furthermore, the bright front headlight helps ensure riders stay seen by traffic during darker days, alongside aiding in seeing where they’re going. However, we were unable to find any evidence of rear brake lights or reflector strips, which impacts visibility from behind. This could be especially dangerous on highways, when vehicles are moving fast towards you from behind. As such, we recommend you wear appropriate safety gear when riding at night, such as a high visibility jacket and helmet.
Is the Jetson Metro waterproof?
Unspecified, however Jetson claim that the Metro offers water resistance against moderate water pressure and dust ingress; keeping the interior electrical components adequately protected. Learn about IP ratings here.

As far as we’re aware, the Jetson Metro folding electric bike is available worldwide, with obvious exceptions for certain countries. Alongside this, Jetson offer a 1 year warranty on all official purchases.
